This is a solid idea, and not even just for matchmaking purposes. It's legit a good idea to let the host begin the game and wait for your loadout time to be over for additional solar. That's not fair at all.. Not a massive deal but your suggestion kills two birds with one stone. One person will join, realize they can't possibly win, and then leave. Then they can't join another game and keep getting looped into ours. They can play it out until the next match and hope people show up, but that never really happens. I feel I will never see half of the strategies possible in Awesomenauts due to this online structure. ------ Just had another game where I was paired up with someone who couldn't play, and I guess the game assumes I'd like to play against my friends since I keep getting que'd up against them. That or no-one is on. It's either my friends are on the opposing team or I'm stomping new comers. I have really only had three games that gave any feel of competitive play. I am nearing third prestige (lv 42) and I am quickly getting fed up with how stale online is and I hope it gets better..

At the very least... if a match ends in less than a minute from joining, make it that your rating and win/lose ratio isn't affected.
Seriously... it's beyond irritating jumping into a game and LOSE before you can even get out the rocket.

With the size of the community right now the game would die out way faster if you'd have to wait for 5 other players to start a match. Even if every player out there was patient enough to wait 10 minutes to fill a game, chances would be very slim they'd actually find each other.
Right now if you want decent competition and teammates, make friends and play private matches.

couldnt you possibly put a picture of the current gameplay map in the character select screen? not even showing the players or droids, just the turrets. that way i can see if the team is at the base already, and not join, or at least wait untill it's over. then i can start fresh next game and not have my rating decreased for a loss i had nothing to do with.

Well, if that was the case, people would hop on teams who already had the enemy's turrets destroyed and get a free win. There's nothing wrong with joining the losing team. Comebacks are the sweetest form of victory in any game mode.

well maybe just something to let us know if a base is damaged, you wouldn't know which one and you could still take a chance. if a base is already being attacked there's little chance of a comeback. i've made comebacks like that and im sure we all have, but im talking majority here.

I do agree about waiting for folks to reconnect. A lot of players wait to reconnect till as long as possible, so they can come in with more Solar (due to folks dropping already, taking the Piggy Bank, and maybe collecting a few loose solar or a quick kill). Someone shouldn't be up to level 3-4 right after Droids spawn without actually getting a kill.

Yeah, those comebacks where we come in, see the base exposed and essentially gone-- but you play your heart out for 30mins and win it anyway. These are maddening, win or not.
