Its not that its hard its just unnecessary if you enjoy going through the same exact Exp table over and over for some icons more power to you. I would prefer though that everyone was always on equal ground as far as items and abilities available to the player and progressing through the exp table rewarded you some other way.

I got to prestige 10 on PC just last night, and I didn't feel that prestiging was a great sacrifice. It barred me from using some builds for a time (why oh why did +7 cat damage have to be level 54?), but it also forced me to experiment a lot with the whole cast. It's unlikely, for example, that I would have realized how strong Lonestar's lifesteal is, because incendiary seems like such a no-brainer upgrade until you understand that lifesteal combined with triple jump, a high health pool and an upgraded pistol makes Lonestar one of the hardest characters to kill.

As for the topic, I think the answer is yes. People listen more to you, because they know you are experienced, and because they are impressed by pretty icons. In my experience there is also a rough one-way correlation between prestige and skill: Players with high prestige are *usually* pretty good, and better on average than players with no or low prestige, even if there's nothing stopping those guys from being better (talent, a decision not to prestige, xbox experience, beta(?)).

I have reached only first golden prestige rank (i. e. golden star/level 2). Whenever my team has many prestiged people, and enemy one has none, I cringe a little - beacuse it means that our opponents probably won't put up a fight.

I always look forward to playing prestiged people - beacuse their icon pretty much always means "skill". While blunders happen to everyone (playing after longer break, bad day, Awesomenauts they're not used to), in their case I can at least expect knowdledge about game mechanics, basic utilization of abilities etc. And it is really great pleasure to play against such people.

In my opinion, yes it dose. For me it just tells me how long they have bin playing. anyone can gain ranks even if they are terrible (it just takes longer). I chose not to do ranks ever sines i got the game at launch and its still hilarious beating high rank players
