Not to hate on that, great idea to host a tournament, however the last tournament, Gathers (and I'd like to think it got a lot more publicity than this) had no NA teams at all in its top 4.. it had 1 NA player in total, so how do you imagine this will go? Unless your goal is to make a tournament so exclusive/low level where league 2s might aswell take the win, I don't see this going so well.

Regardless, good luck with it.

Completely agree with this.

Also I don't get the reason behind making this an NA only tournament either, I doubt it's any easier than having a global tournament in the first place. :derp:
also I thought the NA competitive scene was even more dead than the EU scene... rip

I mean you guys could make an EU tournament instead of being cynical about this one.

Honestly think one of the main reasons its NA exclusive is in hopes of lag-free and easy schedules? :thumb:

Seeing a lot of confusion about the exclusiveness about this tournament... So lets clear things up.

First of all,
this tournament is by no means a cleaver way to alienate the EU community. Period. Rather, its an effort to encourage the NA Scene (and yes, there are a significant amount of players who hail from the NA) to join the competitive scene. I've had several different NA players tell me they're excited to be joining a tournament for the first time, because its the first ever NA Regional... So this event is living out its purpose already.

Secondly,
My original idea about hosting a series of tournaments was a bit far-fetched and overly ambitious, and before I move on to bigger and more inclusive tournaments (global), I wanted to host a more local, smaller tournament. If this event goes well, you can certainly bet there's going to be another one soon! (I'm hoping before December).

I understand the frustration....
"Why not just include the entire community?... What's it going to hurt?"
Well, I'd answer: "Why NOT host the very first NA Tournament?" because so far, we've seen the NA competitive scene increase, and there's now a significant prize pool (over $300) and again, this won't be the last tournament I host. This is more so preparing me and my brother for when we do bigger events, because we want to give the community quality competitive tournaments.

Theres a few teams signed up already, and there's 2 more weeks to go until signups are closed.
Will we get enough teams for there to be a proper NA event? I hope so. But it's not for sure yet. It may be that I have to remove the restrictions, and if it comes to that I know it'll still be a great tournament.

Thread has been locked at Fawx's request.

I highly encourage all North American players to participate, as there are not many active tournaments at the moment.
