Another year, another Steam awards! Now is the time to nominate Steam games, new and old, for a variety of arbitrary digital decorations! One such category is the "Labor of Love" award, which is described as follows:

"This game has been out for a while. The team is well past the first unveiling of their creative baby, but being the good parents they are, these devs continue to nurture and support their creation. This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years."

Awesomenauts originally released on PC in August 2012 and has continued to receive content updates and technical support ever since. The cast of playable characters has now been quadrupled, map pool doubled, and a ton of other features including skins, announcers, spectator mode, custom games, global chat, lobbies, modding tools, UI enhancements, and brawls have been added to the game, many free of charge!

Although Awesomenauts has not risen to the popularity of games such as Dota 2 or Smite, Ronimo deserve to be praised for sustaining a community of players for this indie multiplayer title for 5 years and counting, which is no easy feat! And what's more is that Ronimo currently show no signs of stopping!

I can honestly not think of a better company or game to nominate for this award, and if you can't either, give Awesomenauts your nomination! Simply visit the Awesomenauts store page and click "Nominate this game for an award".

We have very different defitions of "stopping".

I might have nominated them two or so years ago, but is it really a "labor of love" if they try everything under the sun to keep the playerbase from crashing?

No.

I consider the definition of stopping as ceasing to do something. In this case, ceasing to develop and support Awesomenauts. Ronimo has continued to provide large, regular patches to the game and hasn't alluded to this slowing or ending anytime soon thus far.

Whether you believe the future lifetime of Awesomenauts is long or short is irrelevant to the fact that Ronimo currently has a new character in beta, continues to host bi-weekly livestreams, and is as far as we know, committed to improving the game for the time being.

No.

So you'd rather Ronimo had stopped supporting Awesomenauts and left the playerbase to shrink to the point where finding a match becomes impossible, effectively killing the game?

I saw that category and immediately thought of Awesomenauts (and Rabi Ribi but I feel this is more deserving).

Even if the community and playerbase has shrunk a lot by now, the developers haven't stopped working on it, for better or for worse. So I feel Ronimo deserves this "Award" (it doesn't really do a whole lot)! :ayla:

I never felt like Terraria actually got that much developer attention. Maybe just me but it always seemed a bit too periodic and infrequent to me even for their size.

I was gonna vote for a different game... But since I'm biased towards kewn kun I'll just go ahead and pick....

Clunk-awesomenauts character as my labor of love nominee.

As fresh today as he was on vanilla.
They even kept all of his signature dance moves.

When do we do a melee Renaissance with a viral competitive match replay?

I would rather they stopped pumping out as much content as possible in the shortest amount of time possible and instead focused on less frequent, more carefully designed things that might actually draw people towards the game, instead of just marginally slowing the decline for a week.
