I agree on mine spamming. That seems to be his strongest ability IMO. I usually get damage increase, cooldown, and multi-mine. I like spamming the crap out of multi-mine. It sets up a nice deffense.
With his laser I try to be a support so I use the grab, slow, and hit increase to try and entrap players after they hit mines. I basically lay down a bed of mines and help my team mates kill. I never try to be too aggressive because thats when I get ganked.

Yuri is a support based character focused on hindrance and controlling the field. This is achiev by laying mines and via time warp. I generally go Carpet Bombs, Uranium and Cooldown. And for time Warp he upgrade tha makes it huge, duration and cooldown, and slow. Stick with your teammates or harass via hindering. I learned this from another payer that seriously messed us up. Our Leon was "immobilized" while mines and Froggy G obliterated him. I didn't fare well either with Froggy G. His Warp kept us slowed while their Froggy massacred us. He would also blanket the field in mines make it hard to move around. Since then Ive taken his stategy and it works pretty damn well. That same player on our team made us win a losing game, by holding the Drill Core... By himself... Yuri is vicious but requires time and effort to master him.

IMO if your wanting to push through turrets quickly with yuri you need both of the damage upgrades maxed out and the increased fire rate maxed out, you then need your team to be very distracting while you go pummel the towers. While this works your still better off going mine heavy and acting as area denial, that being said if you get the drop on people with the fully upgraded lazer......

I meant if you were to invest in just one upgrade. The idea here is that being more well-rounded is important, especially when your laser plays such a large role in your damage in addition to mines. After all, you have to do something while you're waiting for a cooldown. That's why with most characters, since you end up using their weapon pretty harmoniously with everything else, I invest in their weapon very early on and then forget about it. That gives me a leg up on an opponent who otherwise limits his or her power to one avenue.

I consider myself a good Yuri player. I don't even touch mines till everything else is upgraded. I first go time warp, healing max, speed boost max, then duration max. Then I either upgrade my health or my laser, depending. This way is so amazing I can 1v1, sometimes 1v2, any enemy and win. The Time Warp becomes a God Buff and makes any attack against you futile. Even a Leon falls victim. Plus, you're team mates will thank you for the increase in effectiveness. Of course much higher level enemies and intelligent players are a threat. If you'd like a demonstration, add me. Fuzia can vouch for me.

Are you on Xbox Live? Seems like every "good" Yuri player is on PSN.

I have a question about Yuri I guess I can ask here.
Does Yuri's laser slow and pull skills stack? It's a little hard to tell if it's just the pull working or if they're stacking.

Honestly, yes, Leon is the best counter for Yuri, and it can get frustrating sometimes, when he knocks you out of the air and slows you. But as a Yuri, you have to be prepared for these things. Falling after being hit should not be changed, or else yuri would be INCREDIBLY overpowered. From all the games I've played yuri, i've never gone away with less then 7 kills and never more then 3 deaths. His mines are the real counter to Leon. If you have mines dropped, then when Leon drops you, all he is going to do is jump straight into your mines, instantly killing him. Not only that, but if you see a Leon, put a bubble up, the slow will let you escape. Both of Yuri's moves counter Leon easily. It's obviously not that Yuri is underpowered, it's that people don't know how to use him correctly. The biggest problem with Yuri is that his mines are by far the most effective build. The bubble in no way can rival the mines. When i see Yuri's not using the mines, i know we are going to lose, since his mines are his most useful and unique addition to his character. It seems like everyone has been complaining that when leon hits you in the air, it cuts off your laser, making it extremely cheap. Mines are by and large more effective then the laser, and if you had just planted mines, everything would have been okay. I just played a game and went 15-0 with Yuri against a Leon, Lonestar and Voltar.
