Anyone else have experience with this?

This skill reflects bullets, but you still get damage from area of effect (explosions and such), from melee attacks (Leon's sword slash), and from non-moving projectiles (mines). So getting some damage but not all sounds about right. :)

Okay, so to clarify, this ability only Reflects bullets, and damage that is Reflected is not taken by Froggy G?

I thought this ability reflected all damage (including special abilities and bombs/mines/sword), but Froggy G still took damage unless he had the Shield power-up.

thanks alot for the quick feedback, but in finding that out i now feel that the skill is a little missleading/not as usefull as it could be and im wondering if there are any changes to it in the patch?

ps i feel at some stage i have reflected contact detonated dynamyte that has hit me directly (no explosion radius) and clunks explosion. (though i cant really confirm the latter as i was just in a blind panic to escape :S) and leons slash possibly. take this all with a gain of salt as i havent tested this only kind of noticed in the chaos of play.

pps your explaination lumps clunks explosion in with the group of things that arent reflected?

thanks in advance

I'm just guessing, but none of the other characters have moves that make them invincible for any period of time. They may want to stay away from giving any character invincibility. of course you could almost count the splash dash as being invincible for the split second its active. i think it goes through everything without being damaged. If that's true, that would make the common combo of splash dash to tornado to splash dash, a highly powerful and invincible combo. Way overpowered. Especially when splash dash can hit you even when it misses.

Yeah, I could have also sworn this reflected Leon's sword.

I also could have sworn that it did not make Froggy G invincible, he would still take damage as normal (I've died a few times while in Tornado + Reflect mode). It's why he would still need to take Shield, which, as I now understand it, blocks the first 40 damage he takes?

Shield indeed blocks only the first amount of damage you take.

Reflect is only partially intended to protect yourself. It also functions to damage others, since they get back their bullets and take the damage themselves. So it is a pretty valuable upgrade when used right.

In other words, a shield would work better on Leon, reflection works better on Clunk's missiles and Lonestar's bullets etc.

Eatsmoke has experimented with using both, it can be useful at times.

I'm sorry, but can you elaborate on this? How does it "partially" protect you? Is it just that you don't take any damage from bullets, but still take damage from everything else?

What I meant is that protection is not the only use of Reflect. Damaging those who attack you is also part of the usefulness of this upgrade.
