So, there will be a free small health upgrade in 1.1. I feel this turns into a Piggy Bank vs Solar Tree thing. Let's say the upgrade is 30 health, otherwise it won't be good enough. If the pills stay at 135 solar for 30 health, it seems to me that the free upgrade is a no brainer.

Let's do the math. With pills you will have less health to start with or give up a different upgrade. So a slower start, the result is less solar. 135 solar to get the same health, 270 for it to be better and a total whooping 405 solar for the full package. If you spend that on other abilities you will not just save solar but also earn more. Making the paid for ability a bad option.

The solution as I see it is to lower the cost of the pills from the current 135.

I see this as a rush tool only, it will ruin your end game to waste that slot when your opponents have better health upgrades.

We'd also have to see how much health it is. With the free health and normal ones I assume you can go +120 HP rather than +90 HP. The usual combo right now is +180. So it's a +60 HP loss from the usual combo. That isn't half bad for a free item in a double HP setup.

But the tradeoff is you HAVE to buy the more expensive turbo pills to reach this goal.

Indeed. I realize this. 135*3 = 405 versus the 270 version. But in an original double HP Setup it's 675 Solar. The 270 version by itself saved 135. I think Pills should just cost 100-110 Solar rather than 135.

110 sounds fair. There's need to be a large enough gap to encourage waiting to get the large one but not large enough to the point where the small one is out of the question.

I also think 100-110 would be better than the current 135.

There are games when you need all 3 of those health upgrades though (If you don't have Turbo Pills), so while it's an initial advantage, it's a long term disadvantage.

If you take the Free Health, Piggy Bank, and Movement, you start out with the extra upgrade and some extra health, which is nice, but gets pretty easily countered towards the mid-game. And it's not like the extra health is going to give you an extra kill. It's big reward is not dying early, and if you're good enough at that already, it's not a huge upgrade. The upside is you're not giving the opponent a few extra free Solar. The downside is you're squishy in the end game. You could always replace movement with something else, but I've found it's too useful to give up on most characters.

If you take the Free Health, Movement, and something else, Then it's simply replaced the Piggy Bank as your first free upgrade. This has some advantages of short term gain, and long term survivability, at the expense of flexability of the Piggy Bank.

If you don't take the health upgrade, you can still take the Piggy Bank, Movement, and another upgrade. You get a free upgrade of something, but end up losing out on the 10 solar from the health upgrade choice.

Yeah, I don't see it being an issue, they don't need to reduce the cost. It's a choice of flexability vs value, and the upside of having both to start isn't the same as taking the solar tree hit (I personally think Solar Tree needs to be free or cheaper).

Im really not looking forward to losing the 270 pills.....

at the proposed 405 for the small pills i would rather just put boots back on my clunk loadout and get the 150 health bite upgrade for 420, or use the free pills instead of my current turbo pills and get +180 total

and on every other character i guess ill have to bite the bullet and eat that extra 135 cost for the same +90 health i get now.....

not too happy about that tbh
