I feel lonestar is potentially the worse character in the game, His steroid bull only thing he got going for him with a very aggressive tower killing comp.
But what if you face right, hold down the shoot button, then start walking left and you keep shooting to the right? I think that would make him be able to kite and shoot much more effectively. Also works in whatever direction your shooting, aka diagonal and upwards.

lol strafe shooting? wouldnt change much of anything TBH infact im hardpressed to think of a single situation where its very beneficial. Btw lonestar is far from useless his dynamite is amazing, 75 damage with furthest range on a spell, with bounce u outrange towers with it, play him as a sniper with dynamite and tell me what u think after that ok?

fully upgraded shot damage and speed really eats away at towers as well.
Pumping both of the slowing skills for the bull to max also gives you 60% slow VS enemies and it lasts a good while. Excellent for ganking. Add the quick cooldown skill and you can have another bull ready before the slow effect even wears off.

He is def not a weak char i seen ppl destroy with him and i have always done great with him.
Maybe ur using him wrong. BTW the bull to me aint that useful to be honest, unless ur taking a turret alone then it becomes usefull other than that dont like it.

The real tactic with the bull in my experience is to use it and push enemy Awesomenauts into your turret, toppled with the slow effect upgrades so they're hobbling away at a slow rate, while you and some Droids are hacking away at it, and of course some dynamite throws, odds are that Awesomenaut won't walk away with full health, or at all.
Sheriff Lonestar brings an interesting role to the field, since he can use his bull to off-tank the turrets while he gets a dynamite throw means he can destroy turrets at a faster rate than the rest of the Awesomenauts (Minus stacking Droids with Voltar). Not to mention the fact that three sticks of dynamite with damage upgrades and explosion sizes maxed can practically one-shot an Awesomenaut like Leon, Voltar, Froggy G, or Yuri if they lack a health upgrade.
He's a learning curve, just keep practicing with him and you'll be in their base killing all their dudes soon enough! =)

I highly disagree. Lonestar is not weak. He may lack mobility which can help him escape, but he does a lot of damage.
My only problem is that (I don't know if its a bug or not) his Bull can not hit targets at point blank range. Other then that, he is my favorite right now.

Yea Lonestar is one of the better characters if you play him right. The cool thing though is that there are a lot of ways to play him and all of them are effective.
Go bull ? good
Go pistol dmg and fire rate = good
Upgrade dynamite = good
You can mix and match or go more of one and they are all effective.
I think he's the most adaptable character in the game because he is useful and effective in all situations if you pick the right skills.

Lonestar is an EXTREMELY good defender. He can single handedly hold and entire lane with the bull and dynamite. He can hold out an onslaught and is a good counter to Voltar's lane pushing abilities. Knock Voltar away from the bots with Bull then throw your dynamite and clear the lane. I think Lonestar is perfectly fine.

Lonestar can pin Yuri against a wall above the turret, where he'll pretty much be done.
Happened to me. ): I would have raged so hard if I wasn't so in awe of how good of a strategy that was. Since turrets target the highest target from what it seems, so pushing Yuri into a turret isn't as effective depending on what else is pushed in there.
His dynamite does tons of damage too when upgraded properly.

Forget the bull, you must upgrade the dynamite first. I usually concentrate on all the dynamite upgrades first. I use the dynamite bounce, explode only on hitting target and multiple dynamite upgrades. I usually can get a lot of kills doing that. When I first played I focused on the bull and gun upgrades. I thought he was kind of weak until I started playing with the dynamite.
