I can no longer play Awesomnauts with people in my own back yard due to LAG, 400+ ms pings.
Some kind of P2P , ISP, packet routing issue, beyond my control. Not connection of stability issues, just latency.
Please ditch P2P so I can play awesomnauts again! >_< ( I heart this game more than.... a lot of things ) Awesomenauts is the ONLY game I have a problem with.
P2P is the source of all awesomenaut's problems. Balance and New Characters be damned. Give me a server browser, and a dedicated server App I can run from home! You don't need to pay for dedicated servers, let the community host them!

Ive opened all the ports listed, going through and entering a new profile for each one in my router. Ive even selected it so that it only searches for games in my region. I have done everything suggested, yet this problem still continues and I constantly receive the error message 0x00000008 or 0x00000009. This is completely ruining a game that I paid for and enjoy playing. This is getting to be very annoying as it disconnects me, counts the game as a loss and affects my ranking accordingly, giving me large amounts of losses. Even if I manage to play a game after a disconnected session it reduces the amount of exp i obtain for 'leaving a game prematurely'. I'm sure you have your reasons for using a P2P based system, but it does not seem to be the best choice as it can be observed that many players are experiencing problems as a result. If anyone can help me out in this situation, please do, it is very frustrating each time it happens.

Solution for PF based firewalls/routers: I had problems with high ping and frequent disconnects with awesomenauts and other games that use steamworks P2P. Most of my connections got relayed over the steam servers which was just awful. After some debugging I found the problem is with NAT outbound port randomization, turning this off fixed all my problems. This is probably a corner case but maybe it will help one or two souls

Agreed, although in all probability the problem wont be solved until the system is changed. Ive checked my router settings with outbound control, though there is no option about NAT

Like I said, a corner case and it only applies to routers that use pf (most BSD Operating systems like OpenBSD). If you are actually using this adding static-port to the nat outbound rule helps. So it would look someting like this: nat on $extif from $intif:network to any -> ($extif) static-port So probably no use for 99% of you with an embedded gateway.

Unfortunately i'm stuck with with rubbish little Chinese modem/router the ISP provide. Its a bit light on for "advanced user features" However there seems to be more than just me with a similar problem. Any Ideas Devs? On miss routing of game traffic , resulting in massive pings regardless of all other variables????

The (only) problem I have is that I can't see my own ping in-game anyone know of this problem, if so is there a fix for it?
