I consider the Volatile Wheels buff pretty significant (+50% speed on top of the +50% range). It was already a nice tool, especially for initiating with a 4 charge pounce.

That extra speed can be a double edged sword, but it makes pounce much harder to react to and catch with burst. Unpredictability is half the battle with Penny, so having the option to instantly close the gap with anyone on your screen is huge. I find myself buying it before sustain and damage more and more often.

agreed. volatile wheels is one of the most underrated upgrades in the game

It really isn't, it's honestly one of pounces better upgrades as of right now purely because of escape and gap close potential.

Nine tails might work if you have enough charges and are not slowed down by anything like Coco's blazing trail.
Volatile Wheels solves all these problems - you need only one charge (and the ability ofc) to propel yourself farther than with 4 charges and no upgrade.

Not to mention that Pounce's travel time is borderline instant, where actually running away eats up precious, precious time.

it is a meme upgrade and it consistantly proves useful
why buy pounce distance when it means you have to sacrifice one of the members of the holy trinity of cooldown, stun, or knockback

a meme upgrade for a meme penny build
