It's not hard to learn the GUI; DarkDXZ did a guide that should catch you up on that here.

What is admittedly hard is learning to think outside the box to make more abstract skill concepts. I was considering doing a tutorial series on several unusual mod ideas (eg. ammo dash) to help reinforce this thought pattern while helping understand what trees do what. This would be done in my spare time when I'm not studying or busy, so they'd be slow but helpful.

Might such a tutorial series help you get into ASM?
