YuriAI

YuriAI is a Yuri AI which works off of area control. Using mines, he is able to wreak havoc with enemy navigation of lanes. Additionally, he is capable of using Time Warp to escape and kill and being generally annoying.

Pros
  • Uses mines for very effective area control
  • Uses Time Warp to escape
  • Uses Time Warp to kill
  • Uses Time Warp to heal allies
  • Makes good use of Laser to destroy droid waves and harass enemies
  • Chooses builds situationally

No build is displayed here because YuriAI does not use anything resembling a fixed build.

DOWNLOAD

Note: although the bot is named MechaMonkey, it is still the same bot. I just happened to come up with a clever name.

Credits
  • Veanko for providing the GeneralAI
  • hurleybird for his pushfix
  • gmFreaky for his botSkill counter
  • chaorace for providing most of the movement and Time Warp logic
  • nailcliper, Corpit, exploder1531, FlawlessHair, and TheMesp for testing

Release v1.2.1

  • Now starts with 35 extra Solar so he can buy both abilities at the start of the game.

He still gets stuck at the drill core. I played two games with him and in both of them this happened:

When i do see him in action though, he is great! he managed to get a triple kill on my team once, so i definitely would like to see him in the game. Unfortunately, getting stuck at the drill core for almost the entire game really holds him back.

That could be fixed easily.

Is in area -> Is wall in front -> Go up

It's probably because most bots are just gonna jump once when they are at that place, but since he has to keep holding up, he won't get much further with a button press of 0.2s
(Now I don't know how your "jumpin" is, but that's how it is on other bots)

I'll have a look at fixing that. I've seen something of the sort happen before and know of a potential fix. Currently, I just have him switch lanes after five seconds. If I bump that up to ten, it could give him more time to get unstuck.

I may also try something like what Flawless suggested. Or, I could force him to retrace his steps. Going up won't work, since he just bumps his head. However, going down may do the trick.

Here is a replay of him getting stuck. Hopefully it should help you out in solving the problem.

Skip to 4:00 to see the blue yuri getting stuck(the red one also gets stuck at some point but i can't remember when).

YuriAI should no longer get stuck at the Drill Core. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, Veanko. Now, he just checks if he is stuck, which takes only two seconds, then overrides his movement so that he only moves forward for the next two seconds and keeps jetpack disabled. As a result, he is able to right himself in only four seconds. To a player, it would hardly be noticeable that he was ever stuck. The download is updated with the new version.

My impressions after one match:
His mine placement on Aiguillon was A+. He also used bubble to escape/team fights.

However... he was shoddy at defending. After the first turrets fell on each lane for each team, he was still focused on laying mines in the middle and clearing droids there. My bots took out the bottom back turret without Yuri coming to defend it even once. When we were attacking the core he didn't come to defend either and was just chilling in the middle of the top lane.

I think there are variables for when turrets are down.
Those could be helpful for checking, and moving frontline.

Hi there, I've played with and against your Yuri bot. This is my opinion of him:

YuriAI:
Pro's
- Contributes well to fights, especially with mines scattered around
- Activates his Time Warp when enemies are nearby to slow them
- Does attempt to facemine
- Has an active playstyle and decent mine-placement

Con's
- Does often retreat to the turret when enemy 'Nauts are nearby, he starts to idle here and poop useless mines which hit nothing. He even refuses to use laser when he's here. (This one needs to be fixed)
- Grabs Bouncy mines? I would let him grab + duration mines to increase his effectiveness

Conclusion
When Yuri is behaving like he should, he's a nice addition and contributes well to his team. However he often starts idling inside his turret to deploy useless mines there, even while droids are attacking his turret. If this gets fixed, he would be fit to join the AI crew.

(Testing was done on Ribbit IV with bots at 60%)
