well this is more of a question to ronimo games rather than forum people but when you first got the idea for S&S what were your influences? I mean ive never played any other side scrolling rts's and S&S's take on rts is very arcadic and fast paced! Im sure this game will make people who think rts are boring change their mind. way to go guys! hope the games good!

Well, I'm not one to speak for Ronimo Games, but my theory is that some of their influence came from this game right here:

Is very similaur to S&S in many ways.

I may be mistaken, but somewhere I heard that an influence for swords and soldiers came from the credits of Super Moine, an animated short.

Here's the video:

Be warned that the video contains some content that may be inappropriate for younger viewers.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, Ronimo.

Wow that is an awesome game. If S&S is anything like that that alone would be awesome but by the looks of it S&S is going to even better.

And Shadow_Magi that video short rocks!

The ending credits of Super Moine were indeed the main inspiration for the graphics of Swords & Soldiers. Plus lots of other things, like for example the movie The Road to El Dorado for the Aztecs, and many other movies, comics and series and such.

The core game idea came after playing Age of War and then thinking about the tons of ideas we had about all those things we wanted to do differently. A lot later we also found a bunch of other Flash side scrolling strategy games that we looked at, but most of the mechanics were already in Swords & Soldiers before we saw those other games.

I only watch like half the super moine video but that was (not to be to rude but) quite weird and sort of dumb. But whatever, if other people like, ok, I don't care who disapproves My reply.
