I don't know what to fill in for <XYZ> to get leaderboard data from the steam API. In addition, I can't seem to access any of the old leaderboard data.

The Steam Community XML API only exposes leaderboards with a valid community name. Someone at Ronimo would have to assign a name to the current season's leaderboard from the Steamworks App Admin control panel.

If you're willing to develop against a reverse-engineered Steam implementation such as SteamKit, you can pass the current season's leaderboard identifier (PLAYERRANKING_NEW_MM_LIVE4) to SteamUserStats::FindLeaderboard and use SteamUserStats::GetLeaderboardEntries to query the leaderboard's entries.
