http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =126881720How is this allowed? A prestiege 10 stomping new players. Isnt there seperate match making for them so they dont fight new players and troll them in chat while they are doing it? Seriously dumb, whats the point of prestiege if you dont do something useful with them other than fuel idiots epeens?

P.S. prestige =/= skill lol This or the matchmaking was just derpy because hey, not a million players always online in Awesomenauts so there are ebbs and flows. When things just aren't that active, some higher tiered players end up fighting far lower tiered ones, it's not fun and it's not interesting but that's Awesomenauts for you: lacking players!

Prestige is only an indication of how long a person has been playing the game. Nothing more, nothing less.
However, I find that it acts as a useful signal; a signal that indicates how much a person might know about a game's mechanics and whatnot.
Simply put: I'd be more wary of a League 9, Prestige 10 than I would of a League 5, Prestige 0.

Yeah, everytime I see someone with high/max prestige the person is probably pretty good :p (or at least I have more care, even if is a lower league person)

The prestige isn't important... his League is though. A League 2 shouldn't face League 9s. The game's matchmaking goes above/below 5 leagues IF there's no one on. So it had to be he tagged along with his League 5 partner. That said... wish the matchmaking would be only 3 above/below from Leagues 1-4 normally. Honestly I'd rather wait then be stuck in a match with low leaguers. No offense, but I've just had too many experiences where I'm trying to constructively tell folks to "Pill up," "Fall back," and "Stick together" with all three being completely ignored... and a feeding frenzy ensues. Also helps that ATM there's probably folks who are only just returning to play after the Season Reset so... yea... anyone with high Prestige has a decent chance of going up the ladders within a few matches.

Thanks for the replys on this though people.
Yeah ive seen matchmaking throw 1 or 2 high prestige people in with my friends who just picked up the game so i dunno. maybe ron- needs to consider that happening. luckly only 1 of them was being trolly in chat and acting like a 12 year old.
Hopefully more people pick up this game so we can fill the brackets better. such a good game though im sure most had it on console and refuse to change.

It's problematic to say that prestige level doesn't matter as a signifier of skill. It does by definition show that this dude has been though the games ten times over, and one does not do that without gaining a certain amount of game play understanding. There are several reasons why such a person could be in League 9, for example high disconnection frequency or preferring to play random characters, which gives less of a specialised arrowhead skillset but instead affords a broader base competency with several different nauts. If I see a prestige 10 player, I would not disregard that badge as irrelevant, at least not until I've seen how I actually match up to that player in live game play.
