Seriously, forget everything until they have a proper leaderboard or league system, or any kind of actual reward system for playing and improving. There is nothing old players have to play for right now, actually nothing.

Here is an idea:

At least give the levels some more relevance than the empty medal that you just 'get' once and that's it. You should be able to gain and lose levels, not just get to 50 and sit on it until the end of time. Make it dependent on the amount you play, but it also should be an indicator of skill. So only the best players should be able to reach lvl 50. And it should also be possible to lose levels, if you don't play for a while. It should MEAN something to have lvl 50, not just that this player played for 200 hours or whatever. People should want to play more and get better at the game to have a higher level, so it needs to be a combination of both those things :!:

They should add a Mythical Mayhem medal for level 70ish.

More content, more progression!

The boring and linear progression of the levels is the problem, not the amount of levels. You can only go up, so there is no real challenge at all. They are empty badges that lack any meaning. They don't reflect skill, effort or any real time investment at all.

Same goes for the Gold and Red Naut badges. You can grind them against all easy bots, so they are meaningless too. Maybe you can even grind them in custom games against bots where you set the timer to auto-win after 30 seconds, I haven't tried. But knowing Ronma, it probably works too.

None of these "rewards" reflect anything (actually) important. So what is there to play for??

Old players don't matter.

Problem is, I don't think new players have anything to do, either.

Grind for hours to get some AP to buy a naut and then lost interest to the game because said naut wasn't as cool as they thought.
