I think that if you switched to a static rating system after calibration matches it would fix all the issues that rank decay would fix, without bringing all of the problems.

20 points for a win, 20 points for a loss.
- People with 50% winrate don't move place
- People with positive winrates rise
- People with negative winrates go lower
- People who stop playing stagnate and fall behind people with positive winrates.

Let's goooooo

Let's ignore the fact that that would be terrible from a matchmaking perspective then.

And the fact that you would be best off by premading non-stop so you win all your games and still gain good rating.

In what way? It would literally do the same thing as what the current system does, except that you don't get punished for playing whilst having a 90% winrate.
The big difference is that it will take longer to calibrate, but the point would be to still have calibration matches.

The year is 20XX. Everyone can play Awesomenauts to niki levels of perfection. All gameplay has been deemed irrelevant and matches are decided by a game of Roflnauts. All new metas are based on Roflnauts DMs.

You can have a 99.9% winrate and fall. You could have a 5% winrate and climb. It's not necessarily about the number of wins. It's who you win with and against. This system completely ignores that.

Will there be any balance changes before this? Or will the game still be in this trashy state?
