Get deflect upgrade on AA and hold teleport between punches.
I'm sure this was known but I wanted to bring it up.

I wasn't sure if to post in Tactics or balance.
I imagine this could be abused by some players who use macros.
Just stand in front of turret and start your key macro, ez. (Although it's not hard to do normally)

This seems to only really work if you're the host.
Maybe I will put a comparison here later. (Host vs No Host)

Can confirm it works almost like in the video if you are the host.
Too bad there is no way of knowing ahead of time who is going to host.
But when I'm skoll and see I'm host, I will now go for this strat.

The one game where I was Skoll + host, I didn't do too well though and we lost.
Enemy team has to leave you alone for a while for it to be effective.

So, it doesn't work if you're not host? How bad is your internet generally, Mugg?

My first response when I saw this thread was something along the lines of... This isn't that useful/abusable because:

1) Skolldir's not a pusher
2) Losing the 3rd Bash hit drops his DPS further
3) Skolldir's pretty easy to catch out and gank/punish
4) Fistbump replaces one of his other Bash upgrades, which are in extremely high demand

...but I kept quiet hoping someone else might offer some insight. :shrug: It's a neat little find but not so useful unless you've already gotten Fistbump for some other reason ( :rocco: ) and the enemy team REALLY isn't paying attention.

1) he isn't but being able to do this uncontested (e.g. after a wipe or if you have good gamesense) is quite nice

2) this combo has slightly more dps than just holding down if timed correctly

3) see point 1

4) if fistbump actually worked on anything above 20 ping it could easily beat out dmg, especially in competitive with a rush comp (when it worked on all 3 punches it made skolldir fit into a genji coco scoop meta exceptionally well.)



I honestly just wish it would be made more consistent with lag. Rbay works pretty much all of the time with ping (except in a few situations with early detonation projectiles) since it checks on your end if the projectile was rbay'd before dealing damage. Deflect however only works if the projectile has been punched before it hits you on the other player's screen. So ping and the speed of the projectile have a massive impact on whether it works 100% of the time or never.

Can someone show me some numbers on this? Nautsbuilder is very little help. I tried running them manually and came up with a higher DPS with the third hit included.

Well, most of the really good skols I see only push with the first two, as when timed correctly it's pretty quick. The windup time vs the amount of damage 3rd does probably isn't worth much since the first to second punch is rather quick.

Were you calculating it with all the punches taking the same time to complete? That might be why.

Alright, I went ingame and found out that it takes roughly 0.8s to do the first two punches.
This results in 249 damage. This means the last punch takes 1s and does an additional 247 damage. This results in the first two punches having 311.2 DpS. But skol does 496 damage over 1.8 seconds with a full combo. Which is only 275 DpS.

Obviously cancelling punch takes a moment, but it's still higher than a full combo.


Excuse me for the really rough numbers. The gist should be about the same. It's not a huge difference. It's definitely slightly better though.

okay free structure damage as skoll...
at this point i'm not surprised considering the amount of nauts who can safely aa turrets rn, I say this is fine since its already become something normal between characters.

Plus, I find the fact that a melee can do this to be quite impressive all things considered.
I mean we're still talking about cheese tactics but y'know. Its commendable in a way.
