He's back and better than ever! A new rewrite of Super Sentry is here! This edition adds lots of logic from Veanko's Sentry bot to improve in-game performance. It also vastly improves build logic and teleport logic. Plus, it fixes a stuck bug!

Download

New Features
  • Better teleport logic
  • Much, much better telebursts
  • Improved BHS logic
  • Improved detection of invisible 'Nauts
  • Better build logic
  • Modifies builds to best synergize with teammates and against enemies
  • Better handling of Swiggins's anchor
  • Killing machine!

Build
Like the last version, Super Sentry does not use a fixed build. However, he is now builds skills much more effectively. In particular, Super Sentry v2.0 checks who his teammates and enemies are, then adjusts his build to work better with and against them. For instance, he will build into Teleport Beacon burst against squishy 'Nauts, into Black Hole Sun with tanks, and into Sustain against nukers.

A Note to Ronimo
The new Super Sentry is completely rewritten. While he uses much of the same logic as the old one, he is not the same bot. I am confident this version is better, but the new one should be tested independently. That being said, this bot is designed as a replacement for the in-game Sentry bot. While that one didn't really have many problems, this one is much, much better. Please consider replacing the old one for 2.9.

Played a match, pretty good. Chases, blocks, not too reckless, charges all the time when he can, used burst... Only thing that didn't seem optimal was not picking up a health pack when escaping with low health.

I'm pretty sure he is better at putting down BHSes than I am. Not sure how it compares to the old one but it's fun to play with/against

That was a little mistake of mine in the first Super Sentry. He wouldn't check for all situations that qualify as retreats, so he would attempt to "take a hit for the team."

I'm glad he performed well! The healthpack issue is unfortunately a very complicated one, which affects all bots. Deciding whether or not you should take a health pack involves predicting a bit of the future. While it's typically easy for players to judge how taking a healthpack will affect their utility, bots cannot yet do so. Nonetheless, it will be very cool to see when they can.

If we want this one to make it into 2.9 than a bunch more community members will need to try it. Anyone feel like giving this bot a ride and posting feedback here?

This bot is crazy good. The only conceivable reason this bot shouldn't get in would be that it might be too good. Although, that's mostly because sentry as a character is just really OP.

I see. After a few more matches I can echo TheMesp, 10/10 want this bot in the game. Really fun.

Oops! I forgot to submit, so this is technically a day late. However, he got so much testing I feel it doesn't matter.

It consistently lands its black holes (an impressive feat) and is overall very good.

Gotta agree, he uses Blackhole really well, and the teleport is smart, but there are some problems outside of that.

GENERAL
  • PATHING ISSUES! You told me that this was due to Veanko's AI, but still, worth noting it.

PROTON MINE

...teleport?

That's all I could catch for now
